Bunkering in Singapore

Our bunkering is over (see photos above) and we are headed into the Malacca Straits. This has been an eventful voyage, bad weather, tsunami fears and now... there has been a report today of a threat to ships in the Singapore and Malacca Straits. We had continued protection in the port with gun boats and helicopters flying around....they are nowhere to be seen now! There is apparently one section of the Malacca Straits which is under two miles wide and that's where most concern is focused.
We shall be happy and relieved to get into the wide expanse of the Indian Ocean but the 500 nautical miles or so of the Straits have to be sailed through first. Apart from a flurry of anxiety and CNN watching before supper, life goes on as normal. Very normal, George is sound asleep! There is a 'Sea Social' in the Faculty lounge of two student decks (the Adriatic and Carribean seas I think) which is going on right now and we attended a lecture in the Union on The Mogul Emperors and the Taj Mahal after supper.
I too am off to bed with Richard North Paterson and "Balance of Power".It is 9.03 am in Ontario and you are starting your day....have a good one.
